King George's Medical University (KGMU), formerly known as King George's Medical College, is a prestigious medical institution located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in 1905, it is one of the oldest and most renowned medical colleges in South Asia.

The university is named after King George V and has played a pivotal role in shaping medical education and healthcare in Northern India. With a sprawling campus spanning over 70 acres in the heart of Lucknow, KGMU combines heritage architecture with state-of-the-art medical facilities.

Research & Innovation

King George's Medical University is committed to advancing medical knowledge through cutting-edge research. Our research initiatives address critical health challenges and contribute to the global body of medical science.

The university has established several specialized research centers equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Our faculty and students engage in multidisciplinary research projects with national and international collaborations.

In the past five years, KGMU researchers have published over 2,500 papers in peer-reviewed journals and secured research grants worth more than ₹150 crores from various funding agencies including ICMR, DBT, DST, and international organizations.

The Genomic Research Center at KGMU focuses on genetic studies of diseases prevalent in the Indian population. Current projects include genetic markers for diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer susceptibility in North Indian populations.

This unit investigates neurological disorders including epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and stroke. Researchers are working on novel therapeutic approaches and early diagnostic markers for these conditions.

Focusing on tuberculosis, HIV, and emerging infectious diseases, this research group works on vaccine development, drug resistance patterns, and epidemiological studies in collaboration with international health agencies.
